Four decades in the construction business have taught Don Clarke that the most important thing about any construction project—large or small, is that it is done right. Starting off as a 16-year old apprentice in his uncle Roy’s construction business, Don learned that business from the ground up. Upon completion of his carpenter’s license, Don hired on with Ellis-Don, a prominent Toronto construction firm, specializing in high-rise construction and institutional buildings, such as the Markham-Stouffville General Hospital.
In 1987 Don and his wife, Donna, founded Don K. Clarke Construction, focusing mainly on projects in the Trent Hills area. Don looked after getting projects done right, as well as on time and on budget, while Donna looked after the company’s day-to-day operations, as well as strategic planning for the future.
In addition to building and renovating private homes, Don K. Clarke Construction Inc. is also well known for high-quality commercial projects, agricultural buildings and a substantial adult lifestyle community. Don is committed to ensuring that each and every construction project is finished to his own uncompromising standards of quality and craftsmanship. Don personally oversees every aspect of any construction project the company takes on, from forming and framing right down to the finishing touches of trim and paint.
However, Don also understands that life is about more than just work. As the father of four daughters, Don has always made time in his busy schedule for family and has taken an active interest in their lives. Also, Don commits a substantial portion of his leisure time to community endeavours, having coached hockey and ringette, assisted in the organization of local rodeos and when the need arose, lent a helping hand to the flood victims.
Don has a vested interest in assuring that each and every construction project he completes is done right, is done on time and is done on budget. After all, he’s more than a builder. Don is also a your neighbour.
